Separation anxiety is a very real thing for cats and dogs. Although the causes of separation anxiety are not fully understood, there are plenty of things you can do to ease pets back into normality.
Please read the following for helpful tips for your cat and dog.
Dogs:

·Ideally if you know when you are returning to work, start to spend time away from the house for short periods of time, so your dog can adjust to you not being there.
·Maintain a good routine of spending time with your dog.
·To help your dog cope in your absence, use Adaptil. Adaptil is a synthetic pheromone that replicates dog appeasing pheromones. ·Provide an absence survival kit. This kit needs to contain a comfortable safe place to sleep and lay and have chew toys and other distractions to keep them entertained. Examples are treats, background music (tv or radio) or food toys.
·When leaving and arriving home, keep your interactions with your dog calm and quiet. If your dogs have made a mess or destroyed your belongings while you have been away, never punish them as it may increase their anxiety levels and its more likely to happen again.

· Feliway diffusers in your household. Feliway is a synthetic form of the feline facial pheromone. This is the pheromone cats produce and use to mark their territory when they are comfortable and happy. They do this by rubbing their faces up against people, furniture, doors and other cats. The diffusers comfort your cats at home and reduces signs of stress, such as an unhappy cat. By using a Feliway diffuser, you can help your cat feel more safe and secure in their environment and reduce their signs of stress.
·For unwanted scratching, Feliscratch can be a useful product to train your cat to scratch on a preferable option such as a scratching post. Be aware scratching is a normal behaviour and a way for your cat to mark their territory. As well as the visible signs of scratches, they are also leaving behind another pheromone called feline interdigital semio-chemical. Remember in a multi-cat household to provide each cat with their own scratching post.
