Veterinary Services
Horsham Veterinary Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services to ensure the best care for your pet.

Physical Exam

Radiography
Our hospital is fully equipped to take digital radiographs (often called X-rays) of your pet. Our veterinarians will discuss your pet’s case and conduct a thorough physical examination to determine if your pet requires radiographs. Radiographs are a very important tool to help us diagnose diseases in animals, particularly for conditions involving bones, the chest or abdomen.
Ultrasonography
Our hospital is fully equipped with an ultrasound scanner to assist evaluation of your pet’s condition if required. Our veterinarians will discuss your pet’s case and conduct a thorough physical examination to determine if your pet requires an ultrasound examination.
An ultrasound scan is a very important tool to help us diagnose disease in animals, particularly for conditions involving soft tissue, such as those found in the abdomen, or the heart. Dr Debbie & Dr Nicole have all undergone specific training in abdominal ultrasound use.

Clinical Pathology
Clinical pathology involves the laboratory evaluation of blood, fluids or body tissue in order to identify existing disease. Common laboratory tests include blood chemistries, complete blood counts, blood clotting times, urinalysis, faecal tests, biopsy examination, cultures and infectious disease testing.
Our animal hospital is equipped with an in-house laboratory that allows our veterinarians to quickly perform many of these diagnostic tests to achieve an accurate and rapid diagnosis. This is especially important if very ill animals and those requiring immediate or emergency treatment. Some more specialised tests can be sent to an external veterinary laboratory if required.
We are very excited to have just installed the latest laboratory equipment from Idexx which means we are able to perform more diagnostic tests on the spots with even quicker results.
Soft Tissue Surgery
Our veterinarians’ high level of expertise and our practice’s fully equipped surgical suite allows us to perform the vast majority of soft tissue surgical procedures that your pet may require. Soft tissue surgery encompasses any surgery that is not related to bones. It includes procedures such as desexing, exploratory laparotomies, caesareans, lump removals, biopsies, wound stitch-ups, removal of intestinal foreign bodies - the list is endless!
If you find a lump or bump on your pet please make an appointment to visit one of our veterinarians to discuss any surgery your pet may require.

Orthopaedic Surgery
Orthopaedic surgery encompasses any surgery that is related to bones or joints. It includes procedures such as fracture and ligament repairs to name a few.
Our veterinarians’ high level of expertise and our practice’s fully equipped surgical suite allows us to perform certain orthopaedic surgical procedures that your pet may require.
Complicated orthopaedic cases, such as spinal surgery, will need to be referred to a specialist orthopaedic surgeon. Our veterinarians will assess each case individually and provide the best advice for you and your pet.
Specialist Referrals
When an animal develops an unusual illness or injury, there is often a need for specialised expertise and equipment to properly diagnose and treat the problem. If your pet has a problem that requires this level of expertise we can refer you to a specialist that has earned our trust and confidence in order to give your pet the optimal chance of recovery.
We’re happy to discuss and organise a specialist referral if required by your pet.

Emergency Care
We provide you and your pets with an after-hours emergency service for critical illness or injury. This service is on a roster basis with Your family Vet.
Always ring our normal phone number (03 5381 1439)
and then follow the prompts to contact the on duty veterinarian.

Message: 2008-2019 RIP Beautiful Girl
We were so lucky to have you as part of our family, you gave so much unconditional love, had the best bum wag, loved destroying your Kong balls and you let the grand-kids think they were the boss of you.
You were by my side through all life’s ups and downs, you gave the best kisses and cuddles, our house is so empty without you, we miss you so much girl.
Thank you so much to all the staff at Horsham Vet Hospital for all the love and care you gave Roxy over the last few years. She definitely loved riding in your vet taxi and enjoyed visiting you all.
The care, understanding and support your whole team gave us on Friday 20th December 2019 when Roxy passed away suddenly will never be forgotten.
The hand written signed note that you guys sent along with the beautiful poem was so thoughtful.
Thank You All So Much
From

Taz
Message: R.I.P. Tazzie Boy, you have left a big hole in our hearts. Everyday we find ourselves looking for you with just little things like seeing you with your paw hanging out the window of the ute on a road trip, smiling all the way with the wind in your face, greeting us at the back sliding door, smiling & happy to see us home from work, to you just sitting with your head on our laps. You were loved and gave love unconditionally & we miss you greatly, roam free big fella. To all at Horsham Veterinary Hospital we can't thank you enough for looking after our Taz from a puppy right until the fateful night that we had to say good-bye. We very much appreciate all your love and care xx

Ralph
Message:
RIP Ralph.
I knew you for less than half your rich life but you quickly worked your way into my heart. You were always loyal, loving, steady, reliable and patient. Always watching over us and hanging with your dad. The best buddy he could ever have. I'm glad you gave us those 2 weeks after you went down hill and the Vet told us what was wrong. It was nice to have the time to love you more, spoil you and say our goodbyes but your body unfortunately decided it was time. We had to make the hardest decision to take you to the Vet who could help you let go. So now you can run wherever you choose, chase the ball and always win, run through green-hilled paddocks like you did when I first met you. We will miss you and your nubbin. You were and always will be a good dog. We will always love you xo.

Max was one of us and he is surely going to be missed in our house and will be especially missed by his brother Hunter. Farewell little Max. May you Rest In Peace our little friend - Megan, Trevor, Alison, Andrew, Chloe, Elizabeth and Hunter.
